I didn’t expect to be so overwhelmed by the sweetness of memories expressed during yesterday’a Super Bowl game. I didn’t know how many others engaged with Barry on this particular day as he offered commentary on the game and mostly the commercials. I was truly touched that so many expressed their sorrow at his being absent from the game. I tried to be in touch with a friend from Ireland who engaged with Barry but failed to sustain her attention. She bailed at 2:00 a.m. her time. (That’s some sort of commitment!)
“Sweetness” is not a word common to my vocabulary, but it seems right. It was an unexpected treat that caught me unaware by its pleasantness. It was dessert, with whipped cream and a cherry on top. It caused me to be grateful for the humor Barry engaged in so naturally with others.
Kirstyn and her boyfriend watched their first Super Bowl game together. We were in communication throughout the game and that made me laugh. This girl who has never given a care for football adopting the Eagles (because she lived in Philly for a while) and texting me “Fly Eagles Fly” and other cheers. Then when the game changed, she suddenly became a Chiefs fan! Cracked me up. She just wanted to win. Yep. That’s about how we Ballard women do the sports!
Today I am grateful for the Keeney’s who had me over and the great, delicious spread they put on, and the other company they invited. It was a lovely evening. Appreciated the two He Gets Us advertisements promoting Jesus!! I’m going to go visit that website today.
Hope you enjoyed or enjoyed avoiding the Super Bowl and now we’re done until next year!
